Match Maker was a study of relationships that actually work over the long haul; say 50 years. To keep a personal relationship working after all that time demands a very intense investment by both participants. The piece was completed in 1991 and I didn't have a place to put it until Harold and Betty Verrill celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in March 2000. I gave it to my longtime friends as an anniversary gift. It was placed atop a metal column on their lawn and they both enjoy having it very much.
